""Taiko" is Japanese for "great drum." The history of the great drum can be traced back centuries to religious ceremonies, harvest festivals and battlefield performances. It is widely agreed that Taiko reflects the spirit and essence of the Japanese people. Taiko drumming is more popular now than ever; its distinctive sounds can be heard in everything from western pop music to blockbuster Hollywood films.

Matsuriza is a percussion troupe that performs a traditional, 15-minute Japanese drum show at the Japan Pavilion at Epcot theme park.

Using handmade drums that range in height from 6 inches to 6 feet, the drummers in Matsuriza create a unique syncronized booming rhythm that can be heard from quite a distance away."
